A Look at the Math: 2/3/10 February 3, 2010Posted by CapitalSpirit in Uncategorized.
All head-to-head results and magic numbers are accurate through start of play Monday evening.
Five games on a handful of frozen ponds tonight. They are:
OTTAWA SENATORS AT BUFFALO SABRES. Game 4 of 6. OTT leads by 5. OTT can clinch series with any win. BUF is +26 against Toronto for 14 East and 4 Northeast. These are the only two teams from the Northeast in action tonight. A Senators win would help the Caps here, but both teams have some more hockey to play before we get to C’s and E’s.
ST LOUIS BLUES AT CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS. Game 3 of 6. CHI leads by 4. CHI is +18 against Edmonton for 14 West. The Hawks have one of the best home records in the West, but the Blues aren’t exactly slouches on the road.
CAROLINA HURRICANES AT CALGARY FLAMES. Game 1 of 1. CAR is -20 against San Jose for the President’s Trophy. Calgary is fighting for its playoff life; Carolina’s season is on life support, and the DNR order might come pretty soon.
PHILADELPHIA FLYERS AT EDMONTON OILERS. Game 1 of 1. EDM is -15 against San Jose for the President’s Trophy. Can I just put the “Elim PT” on the chart right now?
DETROIT RED WINGS AT ANAHEIM DUCKS. Game 4 of 4. DET leads by 1. ANA is -30 against San Jose for President’s Trophy, 1 Pacific, and 3 West. No love lost between these former playoff rivals, so the hockey will be worth a look. Playoff math is a yawner, but the series is very much up for grabs in the final contest. DET wins series with any win. DET O: Series tied. ANA W: ANA wins series.
Apologies for the brevity today, but I had to get to Union Jack’s for the viewing party last night and had to rush this. I’ll try not to make a habit of going so short.
IS IT FRIDAY YET?
