GAME START TIMES:
“Matinee”–before 6 PM ET
“Early”–6, 6:30, 7, or 7:30 PM ET
“Late”–8, 8:30, or 9 PM ET
“Nightcap”–9:30 PM ET or later

HOW TO INTERPRET THE TABLES
LEADS AND TRAILS–Each opponent is followed by two numbers: the margin, and the number of games remaining. So if a LEAD reads as “BOS 23″, the team is leading Boston by 2 standings points, with 3 games to go in the season. If a TRAIL reads as “DAL 12″, the team is trailing Dallas by 1 point, with two games remaining. Leads in GREEN can clinch a season series win with any standings point. Trails in RED indicate a season series that would be lost on the opponent’s next standings point.
EVENS–When a series is even, and an equal number of games have been played in both teams’ home cities–that’s important–the series is truly even. The cell would then simply list the tied team, and number of games remaining. So, if an EVEN cell says, for instance, “MIN 2″, the team in question is tied with Minnesota with two games remaining, and both teams have played an equal number of games at home and on the road. The next tie break would then be goal differential.
ADJUSTMENTS–If a series is tied, but one team has played more home games, the first “extra” home game is disregarded. The series will still be listed as “EVEN”, with a plus or minus to indicate the adjustment, followed by number of games remaining. For instance, “NYR +2″ means that the team in question has tied the season series with the Rangers, but owns the tie-break after the first odd game is discarded; further, there are two games left in the series. “ATL -2″ would indicate that the team is even with Atlanta with two games to go, but loses the tie break based on the “extra” game being ignored.
ODD GAME COLORS: The EVEN team whose cell is in GREEN was the home city for the odd game that is being ignored; the team whose cell is in RED was the visitor. Put another way, the team who “owns” the cell gets the color, not the opponent listed in the cell. For instance, if Colorado’s “EVEN” cell read “PHX +2“, while Phoenix’s “EVEN” cell read “COL -2“, that would show three things. First, that Colorado owns the tie break over Phoenix after the odd game is discarded; that the “odd game” in question was played in Phoenix; and that there are two games left in the series.
TIES–Series that are complete, but tied, will be placed in this column. Only the abbreviation of the tied opponent will be listed. The tie break at this point is goal differential, as above.
WINS AND LOSSES–These columns indicate series that are mathematically clinched. Teams will be moved into these columns early if the season series is mathematically certain. If there is a number following the team abbreviation, that indicates the number of “OFF” games remaining in the series. No number means that the series is over.
